Job Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and operating from the Fort McKay Industrial Park, the Lube Bay Foreman is responsible for supervising and directing the daily activities of a team of Lube Technicians and Heavy Duty Technician Apprentices ensuring that the servicing and repair of tools and equipment is completed efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner. The incumbent must be organized and able to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership to employees.
- Provide training to employees on company and job processes, procedures and safety protocols.
- Allocate work assignments to technicians and ensure that work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
- Monitor and review the progress of work orders, ensuring that deadlines are met, and any issues or delays are promptly addressed.
- Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed repairs to ensure quality, accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues or problems, providing technical expertise and guidance to technicians.
- Rebuild or replace engines where applicable or as assigned.
- Coordinate with the Service Writer and Shop Foreman at the Incubator Park when a unit needs additional, extensive repairs outside the scope/capabilities for the Lube Bay.
- Ensure that resources, equipment and materials are available for scheduled repairs.
- Collaborate with other departments, including operations, parts and warehousing to facilitate smooth workflow.
- Promoting a safe work environment through implementation of safe work procedures with HSE team.
- Assist with the development of personnel scheduling.
- Direct daily activities of the employees to ensure all BME policies and procedures are being adhered to.
- Inspection of units daily to ensure they are ready for the following day.
- Identifying deficiencies and correcting them.
- Determine disciplinary actions and work with Management and HR to follow proper process.
- Review employees required documentation (JSA, FLRA, Pre/Post Trip, Near Miss, HID, BBO and timecards).
- Ensure safe maintenance of all assigned equipment.
- Meet company set key performance indicator’s (KPI’s).
- Follow BME procedures, policies, practices, and review with employees during daily toolbox talks or safety meetings.
- Ensure that all training is kept current for yourself and your team.
- Prepare, plan and conduct daily toolbox talks with relevant topics.
- Assess hazards and correct in a timely manner.
- Maintain the PPE and its usage with employees.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain company vehicle as required – fuel, oil changes etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician certification.
- Excellent technical knowledge and expertise.
- Exceptional diagnosing, troubleshooting and problem solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Possess valid driver's license (minimum class 5) with clean abstract.
- OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS Certification.
- Minimum 1 year previous supervisory experience.
- Previous experience working on Water and Vac Trucks considered an asset.
- NCSO Designation or working towards.
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and management multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
- Sound decision making skills, with the ability to make informed judgements and handle unexpected situations or challenges.
- Strong computer skills (i.e. outlook, excel, SharePoint, etc.).
- Must successfully pass BME pre-employment evaluation, road test, D&A and fit for duty pre-employment screening.
